William Downs, aimless revery
In conjunction with the F&L installation, William will give an artist talk, sponsored by The University of Alabama's Department of Art and Art History, April 14th, 6 pm, 203 Garland Hall.
*The opening reception will take place at the F&L-TPS immediately following the talk.

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, William Downs works in a range of mediums, but focuses primarily on drawing. He received a Multidisciplinary MFA from the Mount Royal School of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore and a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the Atlanta College of Art and Design. Downs has taught at the Maryland Institute College of Art, Parsons The New School for Design, The Cooper Union and Tulane University. His work has been presented at numerous venues in the United States and abroad, including at Parker Jones Gallery in Los Angeles and at Slag Gallery in New York. His work was recently part of "Black Pulp" at Yale University,“Sprawl: Drawing Outside the Lines" at the High Museum of Art, Atlanta and “On Paper” at Field Work Gallery in Pittsburgh PA. He is currently a Lecturer at Georgia State University in Atlanta where he is also represented by Sandler Hudson Gallery.
