Lisa Iglesias, stick stack
With stick stack, Lisa Iglesias presents new work related to varying modes of time – from the quick spurt of spray paint cans to the epic movements of glacial bodies and the relative time of mountain and rock formation. Casting her attention to graphite, paper, and photo-based media of geologic and man-made formations, Iglesias uses pattern and texture to play with our fluctuating experiences with temporality and materiality.
In conjunction with the F&L installation, Lisa will give an artist talk, sponsored by The University of Alabama's Department of Art and Art History, February 11th, 6 pm, 203 Garland Hall.
Lisa Iglesias is a visual artist and Assistant Professor at the University of Florida. In her artist talk, Lisa will discuss her collaborations with her sister, Janelle Iglesias, as well as her individual practice grounded in drawing.

Lisa Iglesias was born and raised in Queens, New York, received her BA from Binghamton University in 2001 and attended the University of Florida for an MFA in 2006. She has attended residencies such as the Santa Fe Art Institute, the Blue Mountain Center, Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris) through LMCC, 6_a Inc (Tasmania), the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts, among others. She has exhibited nationally and internationally at various spaces including El Museo del Barrio, the Queens Museum of Art and the Jersey City Museum. A recipient of a 2009 NYFA Fellowship in Printmaking/Drawing/Book Arts and the 2009/2010 Urban Artists Initiative Grant/New York City, she works both individually as well as collaboratively with her sister, Janelle under the name Las Hermanas Iglesias and Lisa and Janelle Iglesias. Lisa is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Florida and lives between Gainesville and New York City.
